To the Editor.

—Mechanical cleansing of the lid margins is a well-accepted modality for treatment of chronic blepharitis. Along with many others, we have recommended the use of a cotton-tipped applicator (Q-tip, Johnson & Johnson Baby Products Co, Skillman, NJ) and Johnson's Baby Shampoo (Johnson & Johnson) to effect this maneuver and have published the details of our technique.¹ Johnson's Baby Shampoo specifically has been used to solubilize the lipid materials and debris on the lid margins because of its highly promoted property of causing minimal discomfort should it come in contact with the eye. We maintained a large number of patients on daily lid scrubs using Johnson's Baby Shampoo for years and originally had good results.
