This abundantly illustrated text/ atlas was coauthored by ophthalmologists and dermatologists to meet the needs of the several specialties that share an overlapping interest in the diagnosis and management of periocular cutaneous disorders.
Topics covered by the book's 11 chapters include anatomy and histology, systemic diseases, mesodermal processes, pigmented lesions, ectodermal tumors, lacrimal disorders, focal insults, and infectious diseases. Despite the title, this book deals almost exclusively with periocular cutaneous disorders.
Each clinical chapter is subdivided into discussions of specific disorders—204 discussions in all. The discussions are numbered sequentially throughout the text and are prefaced by a brief italicized sentence recounting the key features of the disease. Some discussions constitute a single paragraph. Lengthier discussions are rarely longer than a single page, and they usually cover clinical presentation, incidence, diagnosis, differential diagnosis, and management.
