Preschool Vision Screening Starts at 6 Months of Age

To the Editor.

—The article by Morgan and Johnson1 on photorefraction and the EDITORIAL on photorefraction by Hoyt,2 both published in the November 1987 issue of the ARCHIVES, provided an excellent and well-timed introduction for those who attended the annual meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology in Dallas, where the Sunday Night Symposium was devoted to exactly this subject. As symposium chairman, I thank you very much and commend Dr Hoyt for having summarized so well the preschool vision screening area.

At that symposium, the photorefraction technique and several other techniques currently advocated for screening the preschool group were presented and discussed.

As a result of the considerable education I received in preparing for my chairmanship of the meeting, including reviewing not only the reports that were presented but also many other articles and contributions in this area, I came to the following conclusions concerning this particular . . .
