As noted in the foreword to the 15th edition of this perennial reference work, the Physicians' Desk Reference for Ophthalmology is intended to provide the ophthalmologist with important basic information on pharmaceutical products, lenses, and equipment used in clinical practice. This edition, like its predecessors, is eminently successful in achieving this goal. The book begins with the familiar set of indexes cross-referencing the pharmaceutical products described therein by manufacturer, product name, product catagory, and active ingredient. Separate sections follow, discussing suture materials, spectacle lenses, intraocular lens implants, ophthalmic instrumentation, and contact lens-related products. Particularly valuable to the clinician are two sections reviewing the evaluation and treatment of the patient with subnormal vision. The core of the book, however, is the 92-page product information section that discusses the composition, formulation, and clinical pharmacology of more than 250 ophthalmic pharmaceutical products.
