In the preface to this volume on ophthalmic plastic surgery, Drs McCord and Tanenbaum state their goal of preparing a "cohesive, updated textbook not only reflecting surgical management principles of the contributors but also containing many surgical techniques of [their] own, as editors." The editors succeed admirably in achieving this goal in the second edition of Oculoplastic Surgery. Fifteen respected authorities in the fields of oculoplastic and orbital surgery have joined the authors in contributing and revising 18 chapters that cover the vast spectrum of ophthalmic plastic surgical disorders. In keeping with the tempo of recent advances in this field, the text of 492 pages represents a 30% increase in length over the previous edition and includes major revisions of each chapter as well as new chapters on orbital anatomy, Graves' ophthalmopathy, and essential blepharospasm.
