The author has written a text for the clinician, medical student, and medical professional. It is divided into two sections. The first of these is concerned with examination of the eye, diagnosis and treatment of ocular emergencies, and ocular pharmacology and therapeutics. The greater part of the book is concerned with basic ophthalmology.

Because of the number of topics covered in this relatively small volume, the author has presented brief descriptions of many of the conditions, a situation that requires the reader to find other sources of information when more depth is desired.
