To the Editor.
—Pneumatic retinopexy has been recommended for use in treating retinal detachments associated with one or more retinal breaks within 30° in the upper two thirds of the fundus.1 Recently, McAllister et al2 have shown that pneumatic retinopexy is useful in treating multiple retinal breaks separated by up to 120°. The following case demonstrates that pneumatic retinopexy may be used to treat a bilateral retinal detachment with multiple breaks in both eyes, including a macular hole.
Report of a Case.
—A 63-year-old woman presented on Feb 19,1986, with a history of decreased vision in the left eye of ten days' duration and in the right eye for two months' duration. Physical examination revealed a visual acuity of counting fingers at 1 ft in the right eye and 20/200 OS. Slit-lamp biomicroscopy of both anterior segments yielded normal findings, with the exception of a trace nuclear sclerotic
