—Drance, Schulzer, and other investigators have made major contributions in delineating the role of color vision testing in the early detection of glaucomatous functional damage to the optic nerve. However, we believe their letter misses a major point of our article. As we pointed out in the "Comment" section, we did not include patients with low mean visual field scores (<20 dB) in our suspect category, while Flammer and Drance1 included nine such patients of a total of 35. These nine patients, who also exhibited significant loss of mean field sensitivity, contributed disproportionally to the observed correlation since seven of these nine patients have color scores greater than 150 compared with only five of the remaining 36 patients with color scores greater than 150.
In their letter, Drance and Schulzer retested their conclusions by evaluating an additional 69 patients and found the same significant correlation between visual
