This book is the third in a series of monographs on major problems in ophthalmology. The authors address recent advances in the understanding of virus-induced ocular diseases, including origins, clinical presentation, viral latency, and current concepts for the management of these debilitating diseases.
The major goal of this book is to present the scientific and clinical fundamentals of virology, immunology, and inflammatory responses of the eye after viral infections. The intent, therefore, is that the book will be useful to those individuals entering the field of ocular viral diseases as either clinicians, microbiologists/ virologists, or basic science researchers. This volume has attained its goal.
The book is divided into 13 chapters, six of which deal with fundamentals of virology and the ocular response to virus-induced diseases. The complexities and intricacies in understanding the virologic and immunologic parameters associated with these multifaceted diseases are presented in a clear and concise form
