Department Head Appointed.
—The Greater Baltimore Medical Center has announced the appointment of Robert B. Welch, MD, as chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology. Dr Welch trained in ophthalmology at The Wilmer Institute of The Johns Hopkins Medical School, Baltimore.
American Glaucoma Society Founded.
—The American Glaucoma Society has been founded with George Spaeth, MD, as the president, Richard Simmons, MD, as vice president, and M. Bruce Shields as program chairman. Their first scientific program is planned for June 1987 in Iowa City at which time the first Phelps lecture will be presented to honor the late Charles Phelps, MD.
