Endowed Chair Announced.

—An endowment totaling $1 million for the Jane McDermott Shott Chair of Ophthalmology at West Virginia University School of Medicine, Morgantown, was announced in June. The endowment comes from the Hugh Ike Shott, Jr, Foundation. George W. Weinstein, MD, chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology, has been named as the first holder of this chair.

University of Arizona Appoints New Department Head.

—Barton Hodes, MD, former chairman of the Division of Ophthalmology at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, Pa, has been appointed professor and new head of the Department of Ophthalmology of the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center, Tucson.
