Society Officers Announced.

—John D. Valberg, MD, has been named president of the Canadian Ophthalmological Society. Dr Valberg is a practicing ophthalmologist in Ottawa.

J. William Rosenthal, MD, of New Orleans was elected president of the Ocular Heritage Society of the Smithsonian Institution at its meeting in Southbridge, Mass. Dr Rosenthal is also the chief curator of the American Academy of Ophthalmology Museum.

Award Announced.

—The Leslie Dana Gold Medal Award for the Prevention of Blindness from the St Louis Society for the Blind was awarded to Frank W. Newell, MD, at the meeting of the society in June 1985.

Harris Ripps, PhD, DSc, President of ARVO, Joins University of Illinois Faculty.
