When the chairman suggested this subject to me I was glad to seize this opportunity to call general attention once more to the very close relation between ophthalmology and neurology. When he added "some reminiscences" I was a little in doubt as to exactly what he had in mind. Probably I should reminisce by repeating some of the things I said thirty or forty years ago, or by calling up the distant past in order to prove that the relationship is no closer today, or no less close, than it was a half century ago, when I was a student of both subjects.
While I shall take special pains to refer to some of the facts proving the close relationship between ophthalmology and neurology, I am also eager to affirm this evening the intimate relation between ophthalmology and internal medicine. Altogether, it is of extreme importance, as I have intimated
