For each manuscript review that is thoughtful and complete and returned within 14 days of receipt, physician peer reviewers are eligible to claim category 1 CME credits. Reviewers may claim credit for a maximum of 15 hours of category 1 credit per year for manuscript review activity, including all reviews for all journals that offer CME. Reviewers eligible for CME credit will be notified by letter or e-mail.

The learning objectives for this CME activity are (1) reviewers will gain an in-depth understanding of the new information, technology, and research related specifically to their fields of interest and expertise; (2) reviewers will learn new information and general principles to their own research and/or clinical practice for those manuscripts that are eventually published; and (3) reviewers will be able to improve their critical thinking and writing skills related to content and methods within their fields of interest and expertise.

The American Medical Association is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians, and designates this educational activity for 3.0 category 1 credits toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those credits that he/she actually spent in the activity. The American Medical Association has determined that physicians not licensed in the United States who participate in this activity are eligible for AMA PRA category 1 credit.
