We agree with the comments by Yeo and Eong regarding our article1 that the ranking of articles based on number of citations may vary with the method of analysis. The citedness scores in Web of Science (WoS) are updated weekly,2 which may influence the citation ranking of journal articles with an elapse of time after publication. We reexamined WoS on October 30, 2007, using the same protocol as earlier,1 and found that the articles defined previously had received additional citations during the 14-month period (Figure); this led to a considerable change in rank (Table). The WoS website has been used for decades as the only tool for measuring citations, but since the turn of the century new citation databases have appeared.
