X-Linked Retinochisis and Outer Retinal Corrugations

Sunir J. Garg, MD; M. Gilbert Grand, MD; Henry C. Lee, MD

Since this article does not have an abstract, we have provided the first 150 words of the full text and any section headings.

We read with interest the article by Agarwal and Rao describing the appearance of outer retinal corrugations seen in 2 siblings with X-linked retinoschisis.1 In the July 2006 issue of this journal, we described a similar patient with X-linked retinoschisis who developed sudden vision loss and dramatic outer retinal corrugations on clinical exam and optical coherence tomography.2 Because we were concerned about vitreomacular traction, we performed a vitrectomy with separation of the posterior hyaloid. This was associated with both anatomic and functional improvement. It would be important to follow these patients over the long term to determine whether vitrectomy or observation is more beneficial. We appreciate Drs Agarwal and Rao's additional contribution to the understanding of this striking clinical condition.
