Surgical Eye Care

Since this article does not have an abstract, we have provided the first 98 words of the full text and any section headings.

I agree completely with Drs Papalkar and Francis with regard to their conclusion that optometrists doing eye surgery would jeopardize the quality of eye care.1 Nevertheless, at least at this time, it should be emphasized that it takes ophthalmologists to try to teach the optometrists to do eye surgery.

Therefore, ophthalmologists should be reminded to do their part in maintaining the quality of surgical eye care by not engaging in this activity of training lesser-qualified individuals in the first place.
