In the second edition of this unique text on optical coherence tomography (OCT), the authors have retained the best of the first edition (1996) while reorganizing it where needed and enhancing and expanding it throughout. This new edition takes into account not only refinements in OCT technology but shows OCT applications in methods of managing retinal diseases, such as photodynamic therapy and intravitreal steroid injections, that have evolved since 1996.

The book’s original organization was retained; it consists of 2 chapters of general principles; 14 chapters divided according to retinal diseases by diagnostic categories; and appendices (2 in the current edition) that expand on details of OCT science and technology. Each of the chapters on diseases have very brief (1-4 pages) descriptions of how OCT can be applied to a particular disease, followed by multiple brief case histories with copious illustrations of how OCT contributed to diagnosing the disease, following . . .
