It affects the cornea in a characteristic manner, namely, with an ulcer of peculiar shape (dendritic or branching), which does not tend to suppurate, is never multiple, and rarely, if ever, attacks but one eye, tends to run a protracted course, and as a rule, without marked uveal irritation.
