A concise text that encompasses aspects of clinical examination, differential
diagnosis, and management, The Ophthalmology Examinations
Review is a useful tool for ophthalmologists preparing for written
and oral board examinations, as well as a streamlined syllabus for residents
and instructors.
The text is divided into 10 sections that address medical and surgical
ocular and orbital diseases. Optics is not included. Each of the sections
addresses 5 to 10 key topics with a unique approach. Hypothetical questions
and opening responses, as well as "exam tips" help bridge the gap between
"book knowledge" and the ability to communicate it effectively during an oral
examination. This format, in conjunction with many recommended mnemonics throughout
the book, helps the user organize the extensive lists of information in a
logical and cohesive manner. The use of bold print for key phrases and percentages
focuses the user's attention and eliminates the need for a yellow highlighter.
