Iris Creep Producing Correctopia in Response to Molteno Implants

OF THE 593 eyes that had Molteno implants inserted at Dunedin Hospital,
New Zealand, 8 (6 patients) developed an irregular pupil (Table 1). All patients had round pupils preoperatively and at initial
follow-up. During subsequent years, progressive correctopia and ectropium
uvae developed because of adherence of iris tissue to the silicone tube at
the iris root. The iris tissue seemed to "creep" toward the implant. When
correctopia was established, the condition seemed to stabilize. There were
no adverse outcomes apart from a minimal cosmetic effect (Figure 1, Figure 2, and Figure 3).
