The ARCHIVES announces a new program for the expedited review and publication of important articles. The following article is the first in this series. Archives Express was created to provide rapid, vigorous peer review and editorial evaluation, revision, release, and publication of articles of unusual scientific or public health importance. Manuscripts meeting these criteria determined by the editors will be reviewed within 1 to 2 weeks of receipt and published within 2 months of acceptance. This innovation is based on JAMA-EXPRESS, recently launched by JAMA. Contact the editorial office before you submit your manuscript to determine if your paper is appropriate for express publication. We believe that express publication of major studies will help fulfill our mission to inform readers of progress, problems, and pertinent research in the practice of ophthalmology.
