The future of the intracapsular operation lies in the reduction of the difficulties with improvement in the methods of operating with better technic; when this has been accomplished, the statement of Herman Knapp, in a letter to Colonel Henry Smith in 1905, will hold true, namely, that "If you can establish a safe method of intracapsular cataract extraction, you will equal Daviel's contribution to humanity."
