Primary herpes simplex infection may involve the lining of the lacrimal
canaliculi and result in permanent strictures and epiphora. Five cases are
reported and analyzed in combination with previously reported cases.
Antiviral medication was not responsible for lacrimal drainage obstruction
in these cases.
