Diffuse primary malignant melanoma after prior primary cutaneous malignant melanoma

J. J. Augsburger, J. A. Shields, M. J. Mastrangelo and P. E. Frank

A diffuse choroidal tumor developed in the right eye of a 64-year-old man ten years after excision of a primary malignant melanoma of the lip and a bilateral neck dissection for regional lymph node metastasis. His clinical presentation suggested the diagnosis of choroidal malignant melanoma metastatic from the skin, but histopathologic evaluation of the tumor demonstrated it to be a primary diffuse choroidal malignant melanoma.
