Keratopathy following retinal detachment surgery
J. D. Brodrick
Light microscopy, electron microscopy, and histochemical studies were
carried out on the corneas of three patients in whom identical keratopathy
developed following extensive retinal detachment surgery with silicone-oil
injection. These studies revealed the presence of granular deposits in
Bowman's layer. Histochemistry and electron-probe analysis showed these
deposits to be calcium phosphate. No silicone was detected in the tissue.
