Concomitant Blowout Fracture of the Orbit and Rupture of the Globe

Jack M. Dodick, MD; Miles A. Galin, MD; Marvin L. Kwitko, MD

Arch Ophthalmol. 1970;84(6):707-709.

Abstract

Concomitant blowout fracture and rupture of the globe occurred in two patients. According to the hydraulic concept of pathogenesis, the simultaneous occurrence of these injuries is improbable. A more likely explanation of blowout fracture, with direct transmission of force through the infraorbital rim and resulting buckling of the floor, is advanced.
