Meningioma of the Optic Nerve

Diagnosis by Orbitography

David E. Brandt, MD; Donald H. Beisner, MD

Arch Ophthalmol. 1970;84(4):477-480.

Abstract

This case is presented because positive contrast orbitography revealed enlargement of the optic nerve in a patient with visual loss and papilledema, but no other significant signs of an orbital tumor. Routine roentgenograms of the orbits and optic foramina were normal as was carotid angiography. Prompt surgical intervention was advised on the basis of orbitography findings and resulted in excision of a meningioma of the optic nerve sheaths.
