A Clinical Study of Choroidal Nevi

A Follow-Up Report

Edward Tamler, MD

Arch Ophthalmol. 1970;84(1):29-32.

Abstract

Additional follow-up studies on a series of choroidal nevi previously reported showed no transformation to malignant melanoma. This rarity of malignant transformation, coupled with the occasional difficulty of distinguishing clinically between a choroidal nevus and a very early malignant melanoma, and the controversial effectiveness of photocoagulation in the treatment of malignant melanoma, makes necessary the reevaluation of light therapy in the treatment of small malignant melanomas.
