Monozygotic twins with age-related macular degeneration

Department of Ophthalmology, Cleveland Clinic Foundation, OH 44106.
This clinical study, to the best of our knowledge, is the first report of
severe age-related macular degeneration in both identical twins, documented
as monozygotic by genetic testing. This suggests that genetic factors may
be of primary importance in certain cases of age-related macular
degeneration.
