Argon laser panretinal photocoagulation for diabetic retinopathy. Scanning electron microscopy of human choroidal vascular casts

D. J. Wilson and W. R. Green

Plastic casts of the choroid of a 76-year-old diabetic man who received panretinal photocoagulation for proliferative diabetic retinopathy were studied with the scanning electron microscope. Despite a 14-month interval between the last panretinal photocoagulation session and death, numerous choriocapillaris-filling defects were present and correlated with photocoagulation lesions present on antemortem fluorescein angiograms.
